I watched Tim Tebow of the Denver Borncos win his sixth game in a row - his seventh in the last eight games - this past Sunday as he and the Broncos beat the Chicago Bears. This was the eighth game in a row that he was supposed to lose.
For the most part, the media hates this guy. Yeah, I said it - they hate him! Why? I don't know...you tell me. Is it jealousy? He's a pretty handsome guy, I'll admit. Is it because he's too nice? Have you ever heard him say a bad thing about anybody or anything? Is it because he's not the prototypical quarterback? We've heard it all: his throwing motion is bad, he's inaccurate, he's not good at reading defenses, etc. Is it because he thinks he's deserving of recognition? I've never heard him take credit for doing anything good or for winning, but have heard him state in EVERY interview how his team makes him better, his team is the reason they win, his defense keeps them in the game, and praises his coaches and even the fans. Or is it because he's Christian and not ashamed of it? Make no mistake - he's proud of his relationship with God.
My own hunch is that he makes people look at themselves in an uncomfortable and unflattering light. Take the talk of God and Jesus out of the equation and you're still left with an All-American athlete who is a great, humble guy who doesn't expect anything he hasn't worked for, and who is extremely grateful for all he has. Here's a list of people who are most likely Tebow destractors:
Now I'm not saying Tim Tebow is perfect. And I'm sure he's made his share of mistakes and will most likely make many more in life. But the intended path he walks in life is a straight and humble one that many people can't imagine or even pretend to travel.
Now that I think about it, Barack Obama probably hates Tim Tebow...

- The "I did that" player/athlete. You know the ones. The offensive line does an amazing job blocking for the quarterback, the quarterback escapes five defensive players and makes a miraculous sixty-five yard touchdown throw before being hammered, and the little wide receiver who was wide open sixty-five yards downfield because of blown coverage and the safeties running into each other and falling down, runs into the endzone and dances for ten minutes hitting himself in the chest yelling "I DID THAT". Yeah, he's not a Tebow fan.
- The "pay me" player/athlete. This is the guy who loves the game and competitive nature of football...as long as he's getting paid at least as much as some chump on another team getting paid big bucks to do the same thing. These guys can't stand Tebow because Tebow has a true love for the game that is not driven by how much money he makes. Tebow would play football for free if someone offered to pay his bills for him!
- The "playa". Not the "playER". This is self explanatory.
- The lier/cheater. Sure, no one wants to admit this is them (a lie), but Tebow is so ethically sound that I'd be surprised if an overdue library book didn't give him an ulcer until it was returned! And can you imagine Tebow stealing cable or making an unethical business deal? No.

I can't understand the hate train either?!? What gives? I'm guessing it just people's own comfort levels with Tim being so religious. He's a great ball player and a good kid. I wish him a long and prosperous career in the NFL.
